I feel like I must be the last official English person never to have read a Jane Austen book. I hold my head down in shame! How can I call myself British!
Anyway, Mee over at Bookie Mee has come to my rescue and organised a Pride and Prejudice Read A Long for all the first timers during the month of February.I had planned to read some of Jane Austen's books this year for the Awesome Author challenge, so I thought the read a long would be ideal for me.
The invitation to join the read a long is open to everyone, so if you haven't read it do come and join in.
Mee has organised a reading schedule and I think I will definitely follow it. Here are the details.
week 1: chapter 1-17 (finish by 7 Feb)
week 2: chapter 18-34 (finish by 14 Feb)
week 3: chapter 35-47 (finish by 21 Feb)
week 4: chapter 48-61 (finish by 28 Feb)
If you want to join in, then click on Bookie Mee above and it will take you right to the sign up post.
Glad you're joining vivienne! I look forward to sharing thoughts with you. I've read 4 chapters so far :)
ReplyDeleteMe neither Vivienne unless Pride And Prejudice And Zombies counts. No? didn't think so. Good luck.
ReplyDeleteNope me neither and that Pride & Pejudice and zombies is already on my wishlist :D :D
ReplyDeleteOh sighs, spam!
ReplyDeleteI read this one back in High school, twice, the only Austen so far...oh and Northanger Abbey in Swedish
Mee - I am enjoying this so far. Up to chapter 5.
ReplyDeleteWith Carmen and Petty Witter that makes three of us Brits who haven't read it. How bad is that!
Blodeuedd - I am wondering whether it differs in Swedish.
Good luck with the read-along! I've read Pride and Prejudice a couple of times, but I haven't read any other Jane Austen books, so I still feel like I have catching up to do.
ReplyDeleteIt is true. You are officially the last English person to read Austen. :) Thanks goodness for this opportuntiy so you can hold your head up again! Sounds like great fun. Northanger Abbey is my favorite Austen - a great spoof on all things gothic. Happy reading!
ReplyDeleteI've read P & P more than once, so I don't qualify. But I will stop by to comment! Continue to enjoy!
ReplyDeleteooh this looks like such fun!
ReplyDeleteby the way, I am totally loving your blog

I really ought to try to read this again but I just have problems with Jane Austen.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, you must remedy this! I haven't read P&P yet as I was sort of putting it off after I went through the other Austen novels but this is so tempting! I'll have to think about it a bit and see if I can keep up with the schedule before I join in. Anyway, have tons of fun!
ReplyDelete*yay* happy reading. Mr.Darcy makes me swoon :)
